Low Sodium French Toast Sticks

Boy I'll tell you, every time my daughter gets some of those good looking French Toast sticks from McDonalds, Burger King, or Wendy's I'm real tempted to snitch a few. But, we all know that they are loaded with sodium and sugar. So here is a recipe for some GREAT low sodium sticks that are better then any fast food french toast sticks you'll find.

I start with some of the left over low sodium bread I made for our daily bread use. Cut in up into some nice one inch bread sticks. In a bowl make a mix of egg beaters and skim milk with a dash of salt substitute and 1 tsp. of ®Splenda sweetener. and mix real well. In a pre-heated fry pan melt about 2 tablespoons of Fleischmans unsalted margarine if you want to use margarine or cut back on the margarine and spray some non stick cooking spray in the pan.

Dip your cut up bread in the egg and milk mixture and lay the bread pieces in the fry pan. Occasionally turn the pieces till brown on each side. When fully cooked serve hot. A light sprinkle of ®Splenda make a great syrup or powder sugar substitute!

Ingredients:

About a dozen bread sticks cut from low sodium bread

2 small eggs

1/3 cup of skim milk

2 tsp. ®Slenda Sweetener

2 TB. Fleischmans Unsalted Margarine
